Towards a gender-responsive transposition of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive - ActionAid Report
New ActionAid report and webinar: Towards a gender-responsible transposition of the CSDDD
The report provides an analysis of the extent to which the CSDDD incorporates a gender-responsive and intersectional approach in its legislative framework. The findings aim to inform civil society and policymakers about the opportunities to strengthen the advancement of gender equality and women's rights in the transposition process.
Women and marginalised groups are disproportionately affected by corporate abuse, such as labour exploitation, gender-based violence, land grabbing and pollution. While women make up the majority of the workforce in many global supply chains (textiles, agriculture, etc.), they are often under-represented in or excluded from decision-making spaces. They are more likely to face gender-specific violence and repression when they fight to defend their rights and face additional barriers to access justice. Therefore, it is essential that legislation is gender-responsive and ensures the protection of women's rights.
To unpack these challenges, a webinar at 3 PM CET on November 20th will follow the release of the report. Policy experts and activists from the Global South will dive into the findings of the report and discuss possible ways forward. The webinar will be held in English, with interpretation in Spanish and French with further information being released shortly.
