Climate: As High Level meeting at COP22 opens, ActionAid calls for commitments on finance

As the joint High-Level Segment of COP 22/CMP 12/CMA1 opens today Tuesday, 15 November 2016, international development group ActionAid has called for ministers to make real commitments on finance to make the Paris Agreement a reality.

ActionAid global climate lead Harjeet Singh said:

“As ministers arrive to celebrate the Paris Agreement let’s not forget that without finance the agreement will not be achievable. Debating the rules of the Paris Agreement for the next three years is important but the elephant in the room is finance.

“The $100 billion roadmap for climate finance is based on dodgy accounting rules. Ministers from rich countries need to put real money on the table.

“If Paris was about the What, Marrakech is the How and the How depends on real finance.”
