Position: Head of Institutional Funding: Resource Mobilisation & Innovation

ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency formed in 1972.  We are a partnership between people in poor and rich countries working together to end poverty and injustice.  Today we are working with over 13 million of the world’s poorest and excluded people in over 40 countries worldwide to secure their rights to a life free of poverty and injustice, and with the support of half a million donors and supporters.

As Head of Institutional Funding you will mobilise people and resources to deliver an innovative strategy to increase institutional income. You will develop and manage relationships with multi-lateral and bilateral institutional donors and use your entrepreneurial flair to identify and secure new sources of partnership income. You will also ensure the development of systems, processes; practice and culture across the organisation to make sure ensure we work to the highest standards in funds management. In addition, you will work with senior management colleagues to improve the management of institutional funds and develop training initiatives to increase the capacity of staff to oversee contracts.

This role has significant leadership responsibility for the strategic and operational direction of a team so you will need strong management and communications skills

A graduate in a relevant discipline you will have extensive experience of gaining funding from major official donors and in a senior donor relationship/fundraising management role. This will have given you an in-depth understanding these type of donors and their funding policies and practices, as well as wider institutional donor trends. You must have strong proposal development skills and can demonstrate you have developed and implemented successful entrepreneurial approaches to fundraising. Self-motivated with strong communication skills you will be effective at mentoring, coaching and developing people. In addition you must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to develop, promote and practice our vision, mission, values and strategy.
