Showvik Das Tamal is human rights lawyer currently working with UNHCR to ensure access to justice for Rohingya Refugees living in Bangladesh. Before joining UNHCR, he worked with UNDP to establish an International Treaty Desk at the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of Ministry of Law of the government of Bangladesh. Currently, he is studying Forced Migration at the University of Oxford. Showvik joined AAIB’s General Assembly 2012 and was elected to the Executive Board in 2014. He is also a member of the Governance and Organisation Development Committee. He has also been actively engaged in consultations and meetings with young women and men from the different projects. In 2015, Showvik collaborated with the Youth Team in the development of a proposal targeting young people, specifically young women and girls and ethnic minorities in affecting change in their communities. He was engaged in the Queens Young Leaders Programme in - country assessment of AAIB and also joined the selection panel for finding strong young organisations. During the last AGM held in Maputo, Mozambique, Showvik has been elected for the International Board as the first youth representative in the Board. He is also the first person to be elected for the International Board of ActonAid International.
