Over 20 years experience in development work and voluntary service on advocacy for, litigating, and the promotion of the rights of women and children. Founder President of the Female Lawyers Association-The Gambia (FLAG). Also provide legal advice on a voluntary basis for a number of initiatives and organizations that are focus on, strategic Public Interest litigation,(The West Africa Public Interest Litigation Centre, an initiative of OSIWA); Welfare and education of the girl child, (Girl Guides Association of The Gambia; FAWEGAM); and the promotion of excellence in education, (The Francis Degaullle Njie Foundation in The Gambia). Current Chairperson, ActionAid International The Gambia, The Institute For Human Rights and Development in Africa, and past Vice president Gambia Bar Association.

Served in the public sector of The Gambia, including various positions within the Ministry of Justice.  This included the office of Solicitor General and Legal Secretary, from 1998 to 2000.
