My name is Elizabeth May Wakilo Righa. I am a Kenyan and live in Mombasa, coastal strip of Kenya. I am married and I have 2 teenage children (Daughter 21 years and a Son 19 years). I work for Anglican Development Services which is a Faith based Organization as the Programs Manager. I am the current board chair of ActionAid International Kenya (AAIK), was elected to this position in October 2013. I have served in that position for 3 years and my tenure ends in August 2016. However, I will continue serving in the General Assembly for one more year. My first involvement with AAIK began when I joined the inaugural ActionAid Kenya board in 2005 while the board was still an advisory board. I then sloughed off the board in 2008 for further studies in Zambia. However, in 2011 the board at the time noted my tremendous role and commitment to the organization and was recalled back to the board. I was elected to serve the board in various capacities, having served first as Acting Treasurer and subsequently I was elected as Treasurer in 2012 a position that I held until my election as chair of the Board. I am the convener and Chair of the Governance and Board Development Committee. Previously in my position as treasurer, I was the Chair of the Board and Audit Committee. I am a passionate Human rights activist and dedicate myself towards enhancing the enjoyment of rights by the marginalized and excluded populations of the community. I also serve on a number of boards for several faith based and education institutions. Currently I sit on Finance and Funding Committee of ActionAid international Board. I was elected as a member of the AAI board in June 2016 during the 8th AAI General Assembly meeting held in Maputo Mozambique.
