He is Chair of ActionAid UK since late 2009 and is a member of the Finance and Funding Sub-Committee of the AAI Board. Other pursuits include being a member of the Parole Board for England and Wales, being an adviser to a grant-giving charitable trust and being a Board member of the Ombudsman scheme for universities in the UK.
In the past, Andrew has had leadership positions in a number of campaigning charities (in fields including the environment, housing, international development) and in grant-making and been a special adviser to the Archbishop of Canterbury about his relations with the world outside the Church. He has been Chair of four national charities. He was for some years a member of the Charity Commission which regulates the charity sector in England and Wales.
He lives in London, has two grown up children and loves walking, music (particularly choral singing), gardening and travel.
