Position: Project & Communications Assistant - Shifting the Power & Transforming Surge Capacity Project

Duration: Fixed Term Contract (December 2017 to March 2018) 

Location: Global Secretariat Hub Office or ActionAid Country Office

 

At ActionAid International we help people use their own power to fight poverty and injustice. We are looking for a Project & Communications Assistant to support two key project’s which support locally led preparedness work within ActionAid’s Humanitarian team. This includes Shifting the Power Project a consortium of 6 international organisations supporting 55 of their local and national NGO partners to improve approaches to capacity building and to improve the quality and speed of humanitarian response. Whilst the Transforming Surge Capacity project is a consortium of 11 agencies, who are piloting and  building evidence of ways to deliver surge capacity in more collaborative and localized ways.
 

This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience working on two significant international projects. As Project & Communications Assistant you will source information on project activities for use in communication materials, produce newsletters and maintain our contact database. You will also help organise meetings, prepare agendas, produce minutes, and ensure that agreed action points are followed through. You will help generate and circulate reports as well as project updates too. In short you will play a big part in making sure the teams run smoothly and the projects are a success.

Of course you must have experience in an administration role, ideally gained in a large charity or NGO. You will be proficient in MSOffice, proven experience in taking minutes plus experience of organising international meetings or conferences is vital too. Highly organised you will be able to manage multiple tasks and work on your own initiative as needed. Importantly you will have excellent communication, relationship building and reporting skills. You must also be highly numerate and have an excellent standard of written and spoken English.
